A message from Auntie Mel...
Welcome to my little slice of paradise! I created California Hula Center in hopes of sharing my love for the Polynesian culture & spirit with everyone, not just my own group. (Also because I didn't want to get a "real job" and have to wear "real shoes"! LOL) It all started from a costume I made from my own original Tahitian more skirt and the rest is history. This 11 year journey has been crazy awesome and I am even more excited now than I was when it first started! I'm so excited to bring new costumes, new materials and supplies and a whole collection of aloha inspired gifts. Stop by often. I'm always adding fabulous stuff!
From a dancer to a dancer...
My costumes may take a little while to receive, but trust me, they are worth the wait. I make all of the costumes myself so I can make sure nothing falls apart. I do not use glue- hot or not hot! Now how many companies can say that? Not many, I'm sure. I make quality costumes that will last for a very long time. Everything is hand and machine sewn unless you request otherwise...but I'm not sure why you would. I have been dancing both stage performing and competing for over 35 years. I know what works on stage and what doesn't. If you have an idea, but don't know where to start... just ask Auntie Mel!
